The Art of Handmade Paper Making
Embark on a creative journey in our cosy Dorset studio, where you’ll discover how to make paper using sustainable materials. This hands-on workshop offers a unique opportunity to reconnect with traditional craftsmanship while embracing eco-conscious practices.
Transform Waste into Paper
Learn the delicate process of paper making, transforming recycled materials—including repurposed labels from our own studio waste—into beautifully textured sheets. Through simple yet impactful techniques, you’ll create bespoke paper embedded with natural inclusions such as botanicals or seeds, giving each sheet its own character and story.
Master the Craft
Guided by expert tuition, you’ll explore different textures, finishes, and creative possibilities. Whether you prefer smooth, deckled, or textured edges, you’ll gain an understanding of how to control the paper’s thickness, strength, and surface. By the end of the session, you’ll have your own collection of handmade paper sheets, perfect for writing, printing, crafting, or framing as standalone pieces.
For Everyone, No Experience Needed
Designed for all skill levels, this handmade paper making workshop is a chance to slow down, work with your hands, and create something truly unique. All materials are provided, so you can immerse yourself in the process without any preparation required.
Mindful Craft
Handmade paper is more than just a craft—it’s a mindful practice that connects us to the materials we use and the stories we create. Whether you’re drawn to paper making for artistic projects, journaling, or simply for the joy of making something by hand, this workshop will leave you with the knowledge and inspiration to continue crafting your own handmade paper at home.

We had a brilliant morning, it was such fun, we made some beautiful papers to take home and I’ve since made some lovely presents with them! The setting is magical and Laura was welcoming and delightful – do visit, it’s barm for the soul!

Such a lovely experience – the location makes it feel like a mini retreat! The group was small but this meant that we could all get ‘stuck in’ and have quality guidance throughout

Really enjoyed it ! A little more introduction to each other and the material. The towels got saturated so the process was harder. Very much enjoyed myself & like my paper. Thank you.

I hope you find this helpful.
I would like to suggest a work station for each participant. There were only 3 work places for 6 participants. Inevitable waiting.
The towel laid at each of the work stations soon became saturated with no dry replacement available. This situation caused a longer delay before the next person could make their recycled paper. Squeezing the water out of soggy towels and sponges was easily avoidable by supplying sufficient towels.
I hope this helps.
It was good to meet new people with similar interests.

Loved the Handmade Paper Making Workshop! We had the opportunity to forage for flowers and plants outside the studio to include on our paper, as well as using seeds, and were able to include dyes to colour some of our paper. We even had time to do a bit of crafting, making some envelopes and gift labels. Lovely, relaxing workshop – would highly recommend!
