A more grounded way to use candlelight.
A hurricane lamp is a glass candle holder designed to protect a flame from drafts, allowing it to burn more steadily while softening and diffusing the light. This creates a calmer, more consistent glow that feels settled within a space.
Each piece is made from a reclaimed glass bottle, cut and shaped in our Dorset studio. The glass sits on top of a solid wooden base, made from remnants sourced from a local joiner — giving new purpose to materials that would otherwise be discarded.
The straight-sided glass shields the candle from movement in the air, making it particularly useful in spaces where a flame might usually flicker, such as near open windows or outdoors on still evenings.
The proportions are simple and functional, designed to work well on a table, windowsill or as part of a dining setting. The glass cylinder measures approximately 20cm height with a diameter of 8cm, offering enough space for different candle types while maintaining a clean, minimal form.
Suitable for:
• Tea lights
• Small candles
• Mini pillar candles
The wooden base adds weight and stability, keeping the lamp grounded and practical for everyday use. Each piece will vary slightly in tone and texture, reflecting the nature of reclaimed glass and wood. A simple object designed to hold light steadily and bring a sense of calm to a space.
